Collections at the Biomedical Library

Books
New books are shelved by subject on floor 5, and you can collect them directly from the shelf. If you are looking for a specific book you can search it in the library catalogue GUNDA. The information shown under Library and Call Number contains information on the location of the book. For titles in closed stacks GUNDA states 'Please Request'. It takes about two hours before these books are available for check-out.

Journals                                                                                                                                                                 Journals printed 1980 and onwards are shelved on floor 3. Journals printed before 1980 are kept in closed stacks and have to be requested. While older issues can be borrowed, it is not possible to borrow current issues. A large portion of the Library’s journals are available as e-journals.

Textbooks
There is a special collection of textbooks on floor 5. The subjects covered are health care sciences, medicine, odontology, biology, biochemistry/biophysics. Textbooks related to the study programmes in pharmacy, audiology, biomedical analysis, dietetics, speech therapy, dispensary, and pharmacology are also available and many titles are held in multiple copies. Copies for reference use are available for reading in the Library. There are also copies for reference use of textbooks for undergraduate courses in the health care sciences at the Learning Centre, Hälsovetarbacken.

Reference Material
The reference collection consists of encyclopedias, dictionaries, and handbooks. Books for reference use are shelved by subject on floor 5 along with the collection of non-reference books. Most of these books are marked with a red label on the book spine. There is also a large number of electronic dictionaries and encyclopaedias. Books for reference may not be borrowed.
