Newspapers on microfilm
The Undergraduate and Newspaper Library, KTB, contains the University Library’s vast collection of primarily Swedish newspapers on microfilm. Most of the Swedish newspapers, about 850 titles, are in the library.
A major part is held on microfilm from 1979 onwards, but the largest newspapers are microfilmed from their first year of publication. The microfilms are kept on floor 4, together with microfilm readers and photocopiers.
Also the PRESS ARCHIVE, covering important events between 1945 and 1981, is on microfilm.
Newspaper originals
The Library’s collection of older Swedish and foreign newspaper originals comprises 176 Swedish and 27 foreign titles.
The Undergraduate and Newspaper Library subscribes to Göteborgs-Posten, GT, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet in print. The newspapers are stored and preserved until the corresponding microfilms arrive from the National Library. The delay is about 6 months.
All newspapers are searchable in GUNDA, the union catalogue of Gothenburg University Library, or in the national catalogue LIBRIS.
