The Press Archive

The archive covers the period from 1945- to 1981 on the following subjects:

  • Ethnology
  • Peace and Development Research
  • Business Administration
  • History
  • Law
  • Human and Economic Geographyi
  • Economics
  • Sociology
  • Political Science
  • Theology.

The Press Archive comprises press cuttings, ordered by subject and grouped together in sections of Swedish and foreign newspapers. The material consists primarily of editorials and articles contributing to a debate, but the archive also comprises reviews, biographies, and more extensive news articles and columns. For easy access, the archive has a well-arranged and regularly updated index. The collection of press cuttings are on microfilm, about 550 reels, available at the Undergraduate and Newspaper Library, on floor 4.

Why are there no press cuttings after 1981? The answer to this question lies in copyright laws, according to which a continued microfilming of press cuttings is no longer possible. However, the work with the archive is continued at Uppsala University Library.
