Databases

The databases contain references to articles, doctoral theses, statistics and business facts. Some databases have full text articles that you can read online or download and print. In the database list, you can also find dictionaries, encyclopedias, sound recordings and other types of materials.

In Supersearch you can search for content in most databases and journals available via the university library.

The databases can be subject-specific or cover many fields. Each database has a description where you can read about the subjects covered by the database.

Databases within your subject area

To find one or more databases within your subject area, you can filter the database list by subjects, subject terms and types of material, or a combination of these.

Multidisciplinary databases

In addition to subject specific databases, there are several large databases covering many disciplines. You will find multidisciplinary databases in several subject areas.

Datasets generated by research are made available through research data catalogues in various subjects. Use Google's dataset search to do a multidisciplinary search for datasets.

Datasets can also be searched via the repositories' own catalogues. You can search for data repositories via the Registry of Data Repositories. A topic list of data repositories can be found at The Open Access Directory.

To find scholarships, you can use the Global Grant database which contains information about Swedish and international foundations, funds and scholarships.

Students and staff at the University of Gothenburg can access the databases through the university network, or by logging in with the GU account when outside of campus. Everyone visiting the University Library can use our computers to access the databases.

If you need a database that is not available at the University Library, you can suggest that we buy it. We will let you know if we can purchase the database, and when you may have access to it.
