The Humanities Library through the ages - exhibition 16 June – 29 August

Monday 16 June, at 08:30 - Friday 29 August, at 16:00
Humanities Library, entrance hall

An exhibition in the entrance hall of the Humanities Library, including photographs from the 1950s and 1980s alongside images taken in 2025.

The Humanities Library in Renströmsparken consists of two buildings: the original one from the 1950s and the extension from the 1980s.

The 1950s building was constructed between 1951 and 1954 by the architect Ärland Noreen (1888-1970). In 1984 - exactly 30 years after the first building opened its doors - the new building, designed by the Gothenburg-based architectural firm 'Coordinator Arkitekter', was inaugurated.

Much has changed, but much is also the same. The library grows through time with the same ambition: to both provide knowledge and preserve it for future generations.
