Artists' books collection

The Art Library houses a reference collection; Artists' books collection. The collection is available during the library's opening hours. The material can be read on site and is not available for home loan.

The Artists' books collection has been growing since 2017 with the aim of serving as a resource for teaching at HDK-Valand. The collection mainly contains contemporary works from Sweden and the Nordic countries, but also from other parts of the world. The collection covers a variety of subjects, formats, materials and techniques.

In addition to the Artists' Books Collection, there is also an older collection of artists' books at the Humanities Library. These can be found in Supersearch and ordered for delivery to the Humanities library's reading room.

The Zine collection

The collection, also known as the Zine Archive, was established in September 2016 on the initiative of Mattias Gunnarsson, Senior Lecturer at the Unit for Design at HDK-Valand - Academy of Art and Design.

The collection contains zines and other printed matter of a DIY nature from different parts of the world from the 1980s onwards. Donations are accepted on an ongoing basis, if you want to contribute your own zine, you are welcome to contact us at the Art Library.

About the Zine Archive

Accessibility of the premises

The main entrance of the building is accessible for people with disabilities. An accessibility-adapted toilet is available in the building.

The library is one floor up from street level, there is an elevator by the entrance. There is a accessible workstation in the library.

A stairway goes up to the second floor of the library. Contact the library staff if you need any assistance retrieving material.
