ISBN for doctoral theses

An ISBN, International Standard Book Number, is a unique number used for identifying a book or other publication.

ISBN for doctoral theses

An ISBN for a doctoral thesis is not mandatory, but it makes it easier for others to search for and request your thesis. If you want an ISBN for your doctoral thesis you can apply for one through the Library. If you decide to use ISBN you require different numbers for the printed version and the digital version of your thesis. For the digital version you can use the permanent link in GUPEA, known as a handle, as an ISBN.

ISBN for ACTA publications

After you have applied to publish in a ACTA-series and received a publishing agreement from the series' editor, your publication will be given an ISBN.
