Request microfilms and older printed newspapers

Use our form to request newspapers on microfilm and older printed newspapers from the regular premises of the Social Sciences Library. These premises are closed due to construction work of the West Link.

We pick up requests provided that the material is not available in digitised form. In the database Svenska dagstidningar, you can check whether the material is digitised.

Please note that the older printed newspaper can only be ordered by researchers and employees at the University of Gothenburg. As for microfilms, they can be ordered by anyone.

Request the material

Fill out the form to request material. Please make one request per newspaper title. We send a maximum of 10 microfilms per request. For older printed newspapers, state what you require and we will try to accomodate it as best we can.

How to fill out the request form:

  1. In the subject field, write Request microfilm/newspaper
  2. Describe which material you want to order. Enter the title, year and date of the newspaper.
  3. Enter the number of your GU card or library card.
  4. Fill in your first and last name.
  5. Fill in your email address.

You will receive a message from us when the material is available to read at the Humanities Library. Please note that this may take up to ten days. We pick up requests when possible based on ongoing construction work.

How to use the material

As the regular premises of the Social Sciences Library cannot be used at the moment, the requested material is instead delivered to the Humanities Library. A microfilm reader and a scanner are available there, as well as a special reading room for the use of the fragile older printed newspapers.
